How I can help you: Being someone willing to help and provide insights will be helpful to students. I remember being a first-year student, and I was confused about certain aspects of navigating my course classes, and it always felt nice knowing that my mentor would try her best to answer my questions without judgment. 

When I started at UC Davis I felt... super excited but also very confused at times, which made me a little nervous, but I was happy once I knew I could reach out to people.

Advice for incoming first-year UHP students: Say yes! Even if you're unsure whether something seems like a good fit, try it out first, and if you don't like it, that's totally okay. Now you know that you don't particularly enjoy it and can find something else you might!
