Peer Mentors

The UHP Peer Mentor Program matches incoming first-year students with returning UHP students. Mentors use their knowledge of campus life and resources as well as their personal experiences to provide invaluable advice and guidance to mentees. Interest forms for incoming first-years will be available in August. 

 

Dongyang Xuanyuan

  • 2nd Year
Dongyang (he/him) is from Shandong, China. He is majoring in Managerial Economics with minors in Communication and Statistics. His future career aspirations include data analyst and professor; his personal interests include watching soccer, going on walks and reading, and on campus he is mainly involved in the University Honors Program.

Sanjana Gumma

  • 3rd Year
Sanjana (she/her) is from Chicago, Illinois and she studies Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Public Health. She would like to be a physician one day! In her own words: "I’m fueled by coffee and love experimenting with my Nespresso. I also love watching movies and have an eternal love affair with music. Basically, if there’s caffeine, a good film, or a catchy tune involved, you can bet I’m there."

Isabel Resto

  • Third-Year
Isabel is a third-year student in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences who is studying Animal Science and English. She is pre-vet; loves to run, hike, be outside and travel. On campus, she is involved in the Tri-Delta sorority, has a vet internship, and works in the Mitleohner lab.

America Manzo Garibay

America (she/her/hers), is from Newman, CA and studies Managerial Economics and Applied Statistics. Her future career aspiration is to be an accountant. She enjoys tennis, biking, going on Boba runs and visiting the ARC. On campus she is an Aggie Host Security Officer.

Kyra Victor

Kyra (she/her) is from Thousand Oaks, and is a Global Disease Biology major with a minor in Sociology. She aspires to be a dentist in the future. In her free time she enjoys journaling, cooking, running, cafe hopping, and recently she's been learning how to play guitar! She is part of a wide variety of organizations on campus which include the Japanese American Student Society, AATC as a calculus tutor, Outdoor Adventures as a Wild Guide, and she is also an undergraduate researcher for the Brady Lab! She wants to help students adjust to the fast pace nature of the quarter system while giving them advice based on her past mistakes and resources she wishes she discovered sooner. Additionally, knowing what classes to take with each other for content overlap can be a very useful tool with an already busy schedule!

Yasmin Roman Castillo

  • Applied Chemistry
Yasmin (she/her/hers is from Bakersfield, CA and majors in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, with a minor in Spanish. She is considering teaching, pediatric dentistry and gynecology as future career options. On campus, she is a BioLaunch Mentor, Student Assistant at the Contained Research Facility, and involved in Archery and Chinese learning club.
