Position Title
2nd Year
Hometown: Modesto, CA.
Future Career: Cardiologist or heart surgeon (definitely somewhere within the medical field).
Personal Interests: Reading comics, listening to music a lot, going to the gym, playing video games, and going to a concerts and festivals.
How I can help you: As a 2nd year, I have plentiful experiences on campus and in courses, access to a lot of resources to help my mentees and advice on motivation for the college lifestyle. I've been in the shoes of a freshman before, so I know what it's like to have ambiguous and nerve-racking thoughts about one's academic life and future. The information and assistance I provide to my mentees will aid in them paving their road or pushing forward.
When I started at UC Davis: I felt nervous about fitting in with this new environment and community. Adapting to change is not an easy task, but it takes time. Now I consider UC Davis as home too with the experiences and joy I've had here.
Advice for incoming first-year UHP students: Don't be afraid, embarrassed, or nervous of anything you do; don't feel the need to fit in with certain groups because the campus is filled with a diverse population with many different backgrounds and identities. Just be who you are and you'll find comfort in this new home. It's all part of the exploration journey of the college life.
