How I can help you: As your peer mentor, I would provide an inclusive environment allowing them settle into UC Davis, helping them adjust to this new quarter system and provide support as well as feedback oriented towards growth.

When I started at UC Davis: I felt a bit worried about finding friends and feeling lost in such a big campus and community. However, I forced myself to become more proactive and realized that so many other freshman were in the same boat as me which allowed me to feel more comfortable engaging in small conversations with fellow classmates. It was through these interactions where I met my current friends at Davis.

Advice for incoming first-year UHP students: I would advise them to maintain a flexible mindset coming into college and understand that it's completely okay to make mistakes. Setting appropriate goals and limits for themselves is crucial. In addition, it's important to remember that grades do not solely define their time at UC Davis. Instead, focus on the experiences they've gained, the relationships they've form and to embrace every opportunity for personal and academic growth; after all college is a time for exploration and self-discovery.
