Position Title
3rd Year
Hometown: Santa Cruz, CA.
Future Career: Working for the EU or UN.
Personal Interests: Writing, Reading, Roleplaying Games, Music
Campus Involvement: Casual participation in several clubs.
How I can help you: I want to help offer students personalized guidance. The role of a peer mentor is unique in that one has the opportunity to either dispense general advice and call it a day or actually develop rapport in order to allow students to feel comfortable sharing what they would like assistance with.
When I started at UC Davis, I felt: totally overwhelmed. After a small high school, the scale of Davis was daunting and it was difficult to make time for a social life while dealing with all of the newness.
Advice for incoming first-year UHP students: I would advise first year students to develop a plan to balance their time. Although this plan may be discarded in the future as circumstances change and they become acclimated to college living, the very act of planning breaks down the totality of university into actionable steps. It also may reveal some insights into specifics needed to meet their goals.
