Integrated Studies and the Campus Community Book ProjectThe Integrated Studies Honors Program (ISHP) has been an active participant in the Campus Community Book Project since its inception in 2002. For 2009, the ISHP included Eric Weiner’s Geography of Bliss in its summer reading for incoming students. Students in the Spring 2009 offering of the IST190 seminar discussed the book, as did all of the incoming ISHP students taking the IST9 seminar in Fall 2009. In conjunction with the 2003 book (Mark Juergensmeyer's Gandhi's Way: A Handbook of Conflict Resolution), the ISHP hosted a reception for Arun Gandhi, the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, in the Thompson Hall lounge in the Segundo complex, next to Miller Hall, the ISHP residence hall. Mr. Gandhi discussed how he is carrying on his grandfather's work though the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence. The photo shows Arun Gandhi chatting with ISHP students after his talk.
