Admissions2008 Invitees: The required admissions paperwork was mailed to you along with your invitation. If you can't find it (or don't feel like looking) you can download it here. The BasicsUC Davis Regents Scholars are guaranteed places in the ISHP. In May, other students who are in the top 3% of those who have filed "Statements of Intent to Register" at UCD are invited to apply for any places not filled by the Regents Scholars. In June, members are selected from the applicant pool to complete the community and balance it in terms of college, major, and gender. Program RequirementsISHP students take three specially designed, four-unit, honors courses and two one-unit seminars per year, for a total of 14 honors units. They choose from three ISHP courses offered each quarter. Students who complete the Integrated Studies Honors Program requirements receive transcript notation. Frequently Asked QuestionsPart I: For Those InterestedHow do I get an application? When? The Integrated Studies Honors Program is an invitation only program. In March, we invite Regents Scholars to participate and guarantee their places. In May, we invite other highly qualified students to apply. Will I know my chances of being invited before I have to file a Statement-of-Intent to Register on May 1st? Because Regents Scholars have the same deadline for accepting or declining their Award, and their guaranteed place in ISHP, we do not know until after May 1st how many of our 114 places will be available to other students. So, unless you are a Regents Scholar, you won't know. Can I participate in the Davis Honors Challenge as well as in the Integrated Studies Honors Program? Yes and no. You may not participate in both simultaneously. However, if you are selected for participation in the ISHP, you may do that in your first year and participate in DHC in subsequent years. Similarly, DHC students may wish to participate in ISHP courses available beyond the freshman year, such as IST 194AH/BH, an undergraduate research thesis experience. Can I visit an Integrated Studies class and/or the dorm? Yes. Please allow us 72 hours notice. You may contact our Peer Advisor, Katrina Lindsay (kalindsay@ucdavis.edu) with your schedule. Part II: For Those InvitedI have just been invited to apply to the ISHP, but I have already applied to DHC. What is the difference between them? There are many differences, as listed here:
Regents Scholars will receive their confirmation letter in late-May; other students will receive their admission letters in late June. You will receive a letter with a complete description and the Course Registration Numbers before Summer Advising begins in July. If you still have any comments or inquiries about our program, please email Jenny Moody at jhmoody@ucdavis.edu or call us at (530) 752-9760 (M-F 12:00 - 3:00 pm). |
![]() "ISHP has been an integral part of my years at UC Davis. Participating in the program as a freshman, tutor, and ISHP Honors Thesis student has greatly enhanced my college experience, allowing me to grow both as a student and a person. I would highly recommend ISHP to every student who has the opportunity to participate." Harjot Singh Maan, |
